In a significant move to reinforce national identity, the Ministry of Education has mandated that all male students in public and private secondary schools wear traditional national attire. Starting now, Saudi students will be required to don the classic thobe along with a ghutra or shemagh.
This initiative, directed by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, aims to instill educational values and foster a sense of national affiliation among the youth. Non-Saudi students will also wear the thobe, except for those attending foreign schools.
The decision aligns with the Kingdom’s broader Vision 2030 goals, promoting cultural and historical awareness among the younger generation. To facilitate this transition, the ministry will launch awareness campaigns and educational programs for students and parents, highlighting the significance of this mandate in reinforcing national pride and heritage.
Let’s embrace our rich cultural identity! 💚
